Dionysus (Bacchus in Rome) was the ancient Greek god of the grape-harvest, wine making, fertility, festivity and theatre. In 1973 when Jon Schwartz was looking for a name for a new theatrical company that was producing the first dinner theatre in Gainesville Florida, Bacchus Productions was created. In 1974 the young company gained national attention with its Florida State Prison tour of Samuel Beckets' "Waiting For Godot."
For 22 years, Jon and wife Ginny King, ran Bacchus Productions in Atlanta, GA providing themed events and interactive mystery dinners.
50 years from its conception, Bacchus Productions now owns a vineyard in Northeast Georgia.
